Porphyria's Lover

1998

This was my first online comic and the first to use the kinds of panel connectors I'd been calling "trails."

It's an adaptation of the 1834 poem by Robert Browning that, um... probably doesn't work as poetry or comics, but gave me a chance to indulge in a lot of weird experimental effects just to see what would happen—what I called "going through the bad art vortex" in Reinventing Comics).

Like most of my online comics, it's a big file, but you can begin reading shortly after it starts loading. The panels go in some surprising directions, but follow the trails and you'll always know where to read next.
